When George and Farra Rosko hired Kiersten Miles, they had no idea that she would save their young daughter’s life. Talia Rosko was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia. This condition prevents the liver from working properly, and it is fatal without an organ transplant.

Talia was placed on organ donor waiting list, but fate had something very special in mind. Kiersten became the Rosko’s nanny, and fell in love with all three of their children. She developed a special connection with infant Talia, and realized that she could help.

Most 22 year old college students are concerned with beginning their own lives instead of saving someone else’s, but Kiersten made an incredible decisions. She has blood type O, which means that she is a universal donor. She gave Talia part of her liver.

A few days after the surgery, Talia was recovering well and Kiersten got to see her. Kiersten says that she opened her eyes and smiled, and that it made everything worth it.
